Lanzaid
The main questions here is "What is Lanzaid?
Lanzaid is Puerto Del Carmen's answer to Live8, the charity event was held on the 18th March 2005 for the very first time in order to raise funds for the Tsunami which happened at the end of 2004.
The event it's self was a great success, there was many different bands who all volunteered to play as well as singers from around the Island of Lanzarote. Lanzaid was help in Puerto Del Carmen's old town harbor.
Lanzaid was first thought of by Charlie Chapman who also owns Charlie's Bar who was also the event's chairman. He helped gather a lot of the bands to play in Lanzaid and also asked
a number of bands from Ireland to come and play.
Lanzaid was also a long event for the staff and volunteers as it started around 16:00 hours and lasted until the early hours of the morning. With 18 different bands playing there was music to meet taste of everyone who attended.
The event was free to attend with drink and food stalls available for those who wanted. Among the crowds of people were entertainers for the children to keep the little one's happy.
Lanzaid was not only transmitted around all of the 7 Canary Islands via radio, there was also camera crews from TV stations who were filming the event.
Lanzaid 2005
Lanzaid in 2005 raised a massive 33,000 euros for the charity. This was done by donations from the events sponsors, people attending the concert and of course, T-shirt / DVD sales.
